SOUTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Fox 4 viewer Kelly Collins viewer got quite a surprise when she answered her front door - and found Patrick Nolan standing on her doorstep.
It all started when Kelly's mom, Peggy, wrote Patrick an email asking him to send Kelly a card as she prepares to undergo heart surgery next week.
Patrick sent the card (along with a few Fox 4 magnets enclosed) and asked Peggy if it would be OK if stopped by to say hello. She said yes.
Kelly was definitely surprised!
Her mom recorded the moment on her cell phone.
Kelly and her mom will soon be traveling to St. Joseph's Hospital in Tampa for the surgery to replace one of the valves in her heart.
During their visit, she told Patrick she was a little scared about the thought of the surgery.
Patrick - who's a certified yoga teacher - practiced some breathing techniques with her as a way to relax.
When Kelly's mom began to tear up a bit as she shared her worries about the surgery, Kelly walked over to her mom, hugged her, exhaled slowly- and reminded her to do the same.
After we showed the video during our 6pm news, Kelly followed up with a Facebook message to Patrick.
It said, "Thank you so much. Loved our visit. Saw us on TV and cried happy tears. Love you. Breathe (heart emoji.)
If you'd like to send Kelly a message of support, you can post it under the pictures of her and her mom on Patrick's Facebook page ( weblink: https://www.facebook.com/PatrickNolanFOX4/
Kelly has another reason to smile lately. She's a Nationals fan and they're up 2-0 in the World Series!
