Man accused of hitting pedestrian, killing teen boy

A Naples man is behind bars for the death of a 13-year old boys after he reportedly hit him while driving and fled the scene.

It happened at the intersection of Lakewood Boulevard and Estey Avenue in Naples.

The caller who witnessed the crash provided the driver's tag number to deputies.

32-year-old Pedro Silvadiaz was later identified as the hit-and-run suspect. When deputies spoke to him he explained that he felt a big thump on the front side of his vehicle but thought a nail went into his tire. So he decided not to stop, the Collier County Sheriff's Office said.

Family members say 13-year-old Shayden Colvin was the teenager involved in the hit-and-run.

He was transported to the Naples Community Hospital for his injuries but they were so severe that he was later taken to the Tampa General Hospital.

The 13-year-old unfortunately died due to internal bleeding.

Silvadiz was arrested and charged with driving with an expired license and leaving the scene of a crash involving great bodily injury.
