Man accused of trying to set camper on fire during domestic dispute

CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- Deputies have charged a man with Attempted Murder after reportedly trying to set a camper on fire with gasoline with a person inside.

The incident happened Monday night in the 41000 block of Cook Brown Road in rural Charlotte County.

According the a sheriff's office report, the victim called 911 around 11pm, saying 43-year-old Joshua Tanner had attempted to enter her camper, and was now hooking it up to his truck and towing her away.

The victim stayed on the line with dispatch and reported that Tanner had stopped the vehicle and began pouring gasoline around the camper and saw small flames.

Tanner had unhooked the camper and fled in his truck as deputies arrived, but was later apprehended after fleeing on foot into the woods.

He was arrested and charged with Attempted Felony Murder, Kidnapping, and Fleeing to Elude.
