PASCO COUNTY, Fla. — A New Port Richey man was arrested for child abuse.

Scott Allen Thomas, 42, was arrested by Pasco County Sheriffs after he intentionally and maliciously bent an 8-year-old child’s finger back to the point the child cried out for help.

A police report says Thomas became angry when he arrived home and smelled incense. Thomas began a verbal altercation after he says the child lit the incense without his permission.

Thomas then threatened the child with a hammer stating he would smash his hand and break all of his fingers if he lights anything inside the residence again.

Police arrested Thomas and transported him to jail without incident.
