LEE COUNTY, Fla. – Deputies Are investigating after someone tried to pass off a fake $100 bill at an Estero Office Depot.

It happened at the store on Mediterranean Drive on Sunday afternoon.

Deputies say a man was trying to purchase a notebook and tape with the counterfeit bill and said he wanted to join the rewards program.

The keen-eyed cashier noticed the bill was fake and informed the man they had to keep the bill.

The man left the store without the bill.

He was described as a white male, bald, 5'8” tall, approximately 140 pounds, wearing a black undershirt, unbuttoned green shirt, black shorts, gold necklace, and had a black wallet with a silver chain.

The cashier noticed that the man had several similar-looking bills in his wallet.
