CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A man is accused of shooting his brother who was picking up his paycheck.
Cape Coral Police say that on Friday afternoon, they received a call from a man who said he was driving himself to the hospital after being shot by his brother in the leg. The man hung up without providing more information.
At the same time, dispatchers received a call from 57-year-old Noe Gomez, who said he had shot his brother in the leg while he was picking up his paycheck at a local roofing company, and that he would be waiting outside for the officers with his hands in the air.
Officers arrived to find Gomez by his truck in the parking lot. He was detained, and a search of the business revealed an unloaded handgun on the floor.
Police do not have a motive for the shooting.
The brother was uncooperative with police and said he didn’t wish to press charges against Gomez.
Officers arrested Gomez anyway and charged him with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon without intent to kill.
