FORT MYERS, Fla. — A man pretending to be a customer stole over $30,000 worth of items at M&A Plus Tire Shop on Saturday in Fort Myers.
The man came into the shop earlier in the afternoon looking for a hitch. When the store closed around 6 p.m., security cameras show the man returned and broke into the store stealing tools and a worker van.
“By taking losses in the business… we have to come out of our pocket to cover the costs. That takes food away from their children's mouth… my mouth… and all the employees around us,” said Jorge Valdes, a worker at the shop.
A security camera outside the building shows the man removing the license plate from one of the parked trucks and attaching it to the van he stole.
The footage also shows a woman was present during the burglary.
The Fort Myers Police Department confirmed this is still an active investigation. The owners of M&A Plus Tire Shop say they are willing to compensate for any assistance with the burglar's arrest.
