NAPLES, Fla. -- Deputies arrested a man outside a Naples Walmart Monday after witnesses say he was attacking a pregnant woman.
According to a Collier County Sheriff's Office arrest report, 40-year-old Kenneth Griffin is charged with Aggravated Battery on a pregnant woman.
Witness outside the Walmart on Collier Boulevard just south of U.S. 41 called 911 Monday after they say they saw a man punching an obviously pregnant woman several times in the parking lot before pushing her into a vehicle.
Deputies arrived and questioned the victim, who refused medical treatment at the scene and had a small scratch on her nose. She said she did not want to press charges and refused to cooperate with deputies.
Griffin told deputies that he was in a verbal argument with the woman, with whom they share four children together, when she grabbed his shirt. Griffin says he was just trying to get a bag back from the victim, and that's why it looked like he was hitting her.
Griffin was arrested and taken to the Collier County Jail, where he remains in custody.
