In Izidoro Romaniuk's hospital room, there's a single "get well" balloon near the bed. Unfortunately he rarely uses it, since the injuries he gained in a car accident on Saturday make it painful for him to do so.

"If I get out of bed, I scream, I yell, I pass out. The pain is excruciating".

That's what Romaniuk told Four in Your Corner while he was still at the hospital recovering from his injuries Tuesday. He says that sitting up makes things a little less painful when he wants to move around. He has several injuries including a four broken ribs.

Romaniuk says he was hit on his side and the impact made the car spin around several times. the police cruiser went through the guard rail before falling into a nearby canal. Ramaniuk says he's lucky to be alive.

"It was the most horrific feeling. I thought I was gonna die, 'cause it was spinning and I didn't know what was happening."

Florida Highway Patrol investigated the incident and found that the officer driving the cruiser did not stop at a stop sign before the accident occurred. Romaniuk doesn't want the officer to lose his job, but he does think he should have to deal with the consequences.

When Four In Your Corner interviewed a representative about the officer involved in the crash, they said he did not have any injuries and was still working.
