Man injured by gunfire outside Fort Myers apartment

FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A gunshot victim is in stable condition at the hospital after being shot at Portofino Cove Apartments on Thursday night.

According to Fort Myers Police, the shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Ambrosia Drive.

A witness told police that the victim, 40-year-old Thelton Jacobs, had just returned from a trip to the store and was getting out of a vehicle when he was shot.

Thelton was taken to the hospital in stable condotion.

This is an active investigation and police feel that there is no threat to the general public.
