Man punches woman in the face, steals purse

Posted

The Lee County Sheriff’s office is looking for the man who allegedly punched a woman before running away with her purse.

Deputies responded to the woman’s apartment at The Villages II at Stoneybrook in the Gateway community on Tuesday night. A report shows the woman says she was coming home home from work around 10 o’clock and parked her car in front of her apartment.

As she walked towards her porch with her purse strapped around her left shoulder, a black man approached her from behind.

When the woman turned around, the man punched her once in the face and tried taking her purse. The woman held on to her purse and as she struggled with the man, they fell on the ground. The report shows the woman was pinning her purse under her body but the man eventually grabbed the purse and ran away.

The victim says she doesn’t believe the man had a weapon on him. She described him as a tall (5’11), dark skinned man with no facial hair with a medium build in his early 30’s.

A neighbor says he heard the woman screaming and looked out his second story window and saw a man wearing a red hoodie and dark jeans running from the parking lot.

If you have any information about the suspect, you can call Southwest Florida Crimestoppers 1-800-780- TIPS.
