A Lehigh Acres man is behind bars after he allegedly tried abducting a woman at gunpoint at a gym early Wednesday morning.

Detectives say Luis Alberto Martinez was inside Wolrd Gym in Lehigh Acres, watching the victim work out. The victims says at one point Martinez stood up in front of her, showed off a firearm before grabbing her by the wrist and demanding her to leave with him.

During a phone interview, the victim tells Four In Your Corner Martinez kept calling her his wife and making obscene comments.

"I was on the floor working out and he asked if I needed help and I told him that I didn't but he kept making comments about how beautiful I was and how I make his mouth water and how he wants to take me into the bathroom and pretty much have sex with me but those weren't the words he used," the victim said.

The victim says she does not know Martinez but he threatened to hurt her.

"He said, 'you're coming with me right now. If you don't walk with me, I'm going to shoot you and shoot everyone else here'," she said.

Detectives say Martinez threw away the gun he kept in a bag and tried peddling away from the scene on his bike but deputies quickly responded and placed him under arrest.

"It’s kind of scary to think you’re in a safe place and something like that can happen,” a gym member said.

The victim says she will continue attending the gym despite the incident but will no longer be working out alone.

"This should not have happened," she said. "My piece of advice for women is, wherever you go, anything that you do, I feel like you've always got to have someone with you now."

Management at World Gym was not reachable for comment.

Martinez is expected to be in court next month.
