LEHIGH ACRES, Fla. -- Investigators say the man seen here is wanted for attempting to rob a Lehigh Acres convenience store Thursday night.
According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, witnesses report the suspect was standing in front of the 7-Eleven on Lee Boulevard and Gunnery Road for about 30 minutes Thursday evening, possibly checking for security cameras.
Once in the store, the suspect approached the cashier with some items and asked for a price check before walking back to the aisles.
Once all other customers left, the suspect approached the register again and demanded all the money from the register. When the cashier said she couldn't open the drawer without a transaction, the suspect reached for something in his waistband resembling a firearm.
The suspect was told police were on the way, and he left the store on foot, headed eastbound.
A witness began to follow the suspect, but backed off when he saw the suspect reach for his waistband.
Anyone with information on the identity and whereabouts of the suspect is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).
