CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. — Two Englewood schools are still on lockdown due to a suspicious person reported nearby.
The Charlotte County School District says that deputies are going door-to-door, hallway by hallway through both Vineland Elementary school and LA Ainger middle school.
Charlotte County Deputies responded to a report of a man with a gun near two Charlotte County schools.
Vineland Elementary and LA Ainger middle school were placed on lockdown at 3:30 this afternoon.
Someone reported seeing a man in the area, carrying a rifle or other weapon.
Deputies searched the area and detained the man shortly after.
The sheriff's office emergency call log states that both schools have been cleared, and no students were in danger.
