CHARLOTTE COUNTY, Fla. -- We now know the name of a man killed in a Port Charlotte crash involving a pick-up truck and a motorcycle Tuesday.
Florida Highway Patrol says 19-year-old Nicholas Novak was speeding on a motorcycle in the inside lane on El Jobean Road/S.R. 776 going westbound just before 7 p.m. Tuesday night.
Troopers says as Nick approached the intersection with Cornelius Boulevard, a pickup truck that was headed eastbound on S.R. 776 turned left in front of the motorcycle.
Noval and the motorcycle slammed into the passenger side of the truck and Novak was thrown from his bike. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
A passenger in the truck suffered minor injuries.
Charges are pending further investigation.
A family friend says Novak went to high school in Naples.
