NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. — Debris and a pair of sneakers were left behind after a deadly motorcycle crash on Arrowhead Boulevard and US-41 in North Fort Myers.

Florida Highway Patrol says Justin Bent, 35, was headed Northbound on US-41 when Max Hamock, 85, failed to yield and hit Bent at the intersection. Bent died at the scene.

Patrick Reiland, a resident of Lake Arrowhead neighborhood heard about the crash through a neighbor.

“We saw the body on the ground. And we went down and looked at the car and it looks like the car just pulled out right in front of the bike and never paid any attention to what he was doing," Reiland said.

Florida Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles requires any person over the age of 80 to renew their license every six years. Reiland says he wants stricter rules for senior citizens driving.

I hate to say it because I am one, but our old people do not look when they drive," Reiland said. "[We] definitely need testing every two years — and I would like to see that pushed at the state level," Reiland said.

Hamock and passenger Virginia Hamock were taken to Cape Coral Hospital for minor injuries.
