Naples death investigation ruled a homicide-suicide

NAPLES, Fla — The Naples Police Department has released an update on a death investigation that began on September 4th.

It happened on 7th Street South in Naples.

Investigators say two people were found deceased inside of a home.

An investigation by detectives along with the Collier County Medical

Examiner concluded that the incident was a homicide-suicide.

Investigators identified Robert Barnes as the suspect.

NPD did not release the identity of the victim under Marsy’s Law exemption.

Investigators say information on an electronic device owned by Barnes detailed his role in the incident.

They say the victim died from a knife wound.

Investigators believe the homicide happened between the late hours of September 1st and early morning hours of September 2nd.

NPD says Barnes is believed to have committed suicide similarly within hours after the homicide.
