NAPLES, Fla. — More people are jumping into the race to represent you in congress.
From the surgical room to the political arena, doctor William Figlesthaler, a urologist in Naples is setting his sights on Francis Rooney’s congressional seat.
Figlesthaler, grew up in Southwest Florida and has been in the medical field for over 20 years.
He says if elected to congress he will focus on “delivering healthcare to the sick people that need our care.”
He says that even without a political background, his life experience is what has prepared him to take on Congressman Rooney’s congressional seat.
“Starting a business, building a building, selling a business, taking care of patients hearing their views on a one on one basis, and raising children,” says Figlesthaler.
To other candidates, that may be announcing to run, Figlesthaler hopes that they,
“Support our president, support our second amendment rights, support healthcare,” says William Figlesthaler.
The most name recognizable candidate who is also running is Dane Eagle. He has represented the 77th district since 2012. In his first political ad released this morning, he states his accomplishments.
“We’ve cut taxes while balancing the budget, banned sanctuary cities, protected the unborn, and tackled our water crisis head on,” says Dane Eagle.
He felt it was time to run for congress because,
“The future of our nation is at stake, I will not sit on the sidelines while our president and country are under attack,” said Eagle.
Fox 4 is currently working to confirm other candidates who may be announcing their run for the District 19th congressional seat.
