NAPLES, Fl — The Collier County Sheriff's Office arrested a Naples man for stealing fixtures and office supplies worth over $39,000 from an office space he was using for his business.

Donald Stevenson, 48, of Naples paid two men $3,400 to remove all the furniture and items from the Hibiscus Center.

The property manager told deputies, he was trying to evict Stevenson for unpaid rent. He said Stevenson used the space for his business Don Stevenson Design Inc., for almost four years but was three months behind on rent.

Deputies served Stevenson an eviction notice on October 21st, 2019. The property manager noticed several items were removed from Stevenson's office space. Upon closer inspection, the manager noticed the front office door, two toilets, light switches, cabinets, counter-tops, and several wires were missing. Surveillance footage showed two men removing items from the office on October 26th.

Deputies found the two men nearby, and they told deputies Stevenson hired them to remove the items from his office.

The property manager told investigators Stevenson made several improvements to the office and was reimbursed over $39,000 for the items he installed. The lease explains that the items used in the renovation shouldn't be removed.

Deputies and the property manager inspected the space, and the removal of attached fixtures caused significant damage to the property.

Stevenson admitted that he was reimbursed during an interview with detectives. He was arrested for Grand Theft and was taken to Naples Jail Center.
