LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- In honor of National Reading Day, Fox 4 will be dropping books off at several locations around Southwest Florida on Thursday.

Chris Shaw, Amy Wegmann, Lisa Greenberg, and Trent Aric are at Franklin Park Elementary for Fox 4 Morning News, and Patrick Nolan was at Valerie’s House on Wednesday evening to distribute books.

Everyone seemed to be excited to take brand new books home. "Their eyes lit up when they walked in when they saw the whole table of books. And when we told them they could have one or two or just pick out what really stood out to them," said April Reilly of Valerie’s House.

Fox 4 General Manager Darryll Green and news director Sarah Zak were also there to meet with kids and their care takers.

'Give a Child a Book' is a cause Fox 4's parent company, The E.W. Scripps Company, backs each year.

The Scripps Howard Foundation even matched our own employees' donations to buy $10,000 worth of books to give away.

Fox 4 employees will also be dropping off books all day at Littleton Elementary, Lehigh Acres Middle School, the Guadalupe Center, and the Heights Foundation.
