FORT MYERS, Fla. — Tonight neighbors of 78 -year- old Porter Albert are fearing the worst. Albert vanished ten days ago. Police say he was last seen on January 15th at the Big Lots on North Cleveland Avenue in Fort Myers. He was last seen wearing light colored shorts, and a two tone long sleeve shirt.

Albert lives in a home on Linhart Avenue in Fort Myers. One neighbor says his disappearance has left her feeling uneasy.

“I have been living here many years and nothing has happened like this. It’s very quiet and a good place to live,” said Elisa.

She’s hoping police presence will increase in the area.

“It’s not easy having someone missing in your neighborhood that you know, I think it’s better to have more police to come around and check now,” said Elisa.

Chris Smith, a neighbor suffering from muscular dystrophy, says Albert helps take care of him, and he would never just leave without alerting someone.

“And I know he wouldn’t have just disappeared without letting me know something, because like I said he knew how much I was depending on him helping me out in my situation and he’s the type of guy he wouldn’t have just left me in the lurch like that”, said Smith.

Smith says recently he noticed something very strange.

“Actually it was probably 3 or 4 days after he was missing , I was talking to a friend of mine and they had made the comment that his car is not there anymore in his driveway like it usually is,” said Smith.

He believes someone might have taken advantage of Albert’s kindness.

“My other thought was that someone had to do harm to him, because I knew how generous of a person he was,” said Smith.

If you have any information about Porter Albert's disappearance you are urged to call crime stoppers.
