CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Another Emergency Medical Service Station is now up and running in Cape Coral to help the city, which is growing quickly.
It's at the fire station on Burnt Store Road in Northwest Cape.
EMS units are required to respond within 9 minutes to major emergency calls at least 90% of the time.
And even though the response time in north Cape Coral is within that range, county and city leaders say this station will improve service.
"To have this wonderful EMS vehicle here, stationed in our Fire House 11 is a welcome addition, because now the response times, when there are emergencies out in this northwest area, which is growing very rapidly, will be a lot faster and a lot quicker; they can get out and provide the assistance that’s needed in a much faster capacity," says mayor Joe Coviello.
The new station is part of a five year agreement between the city and Lee County.
