LEE COUNTY, Fla. — Cyclists will now find green box turn lanes on Daniels Parkway and Treeline Avenue.
These two intersections were chosen because of their high volume of bicycle traffic.
“The goal of the turn boxes is to assist bicyclists in making safer left turns,” said Ron Gogoi, Lee MPO Transportation Planning Administrator.
Turn boxes are commonly used in European bicycle-friendly cities and are also currently present in other U.S. cities, including Atlanta, Salt Lake City, Philadelphia, and Cambridge, MA.
