Four In Your Corner has obtained new video detailing what happened after a Fort Myers man charged with stealing from a Walmart tried to make a quick getaway in a taxi.

A Fox 4 viewer captured cops responding to the scene at a Fort Myers Walmart after witnesses say a man tried to steal two plastic bins full of steak, meat, and power tools, as Walmart employees were running after him.

"It was kind of like a movie because it went from one criminal and one cop to a ton," Kaitlin Rogers said.

Rogers was parked at the Chick-Fil-A parking lot and watched the scene unfold.

"I was honestly scared because it was scary," she said. "The guy ran towards the drive thru trying to avoid the officer but she jumped out of the car and asked the guy to get on the ground and she had him at gun point but I had no idea what was going on."

Fort Myers police say Samuel Wigfals stole items from the store on Colonial Boulevard and then tried to convince a driver with Blue Bird Taxi to help him escape. Wigfals didn't get that far but tried to get rid of any evidence.

"It was crazy. He was literally crawling on the floor and then he started taking everything off that he had stole, he he was stripping down," Rogers said.

Rogers tells Four In Your Corner she didn't know how to react in the moment but officers reassured her she did the right thing by waiting safely in her car.

"I just can't believe I got stuck in this situation, it was crazy," she said.

As of Wednesday night, Wigfals remained in the Lee County Jail.
