NAPLES, Fla. --- Help Hope Live is hosting a fundraiser to help raise money for a newborn baby in need of a heart transplant.

The event will be held on Saturday, April 7th from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Saint Agnes Catholic Church on the 7700 block of Vanderbilt Beach Road in Naples.

Family friend, Liz Vargas, started a fundraising campaign with the nonprofit, Help Hope Live, in honor of baby Lucia Torres. Torres was born in December 2017 and spent the first 6 days of her life in the pediatric intensive care unit fighting Noonan Syndrome, which severely affects her heart.

"No parent should have to worry about financial stress when dealing with this," said Liz Vargas, family friend.

Mom, Annie, has had to extend her maternity leave from work, and she and dad, Victor, are facing countless out of pocket expenses, including a $149,000.00 bill from the NICU for a one-week stay. Lucia's parents are forced to drive 2 hours to get to the children's hospital where Lucia is treated.

Residents who attend the event will enjoy food, beer, music, raffles, a silent auction and more. Admission is $10 for adults, which includes a t-shirt, and kids attend for free.

Proceeds from the fundraiser will be donated to the nonprofit, Help Hope Live, in honor of Lucia Torres as part of the Southeast Transplant Fund to help with transplant related expenses.
