SANIBEL, FLa. — The Sanibel Police Department is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Sanibel Police Officer Anthony Neri collapsed and passed away due to natural causes during a training exercise.
Officer Neri was with the Sanibel Police Department for 4 years as a police officer and was a Police Aide for three years prior to that.
Officer Neri was a Revenue Officer for 30 years with the U.S. Department of Treasure before coming to Sanibel.
He was a past recipient of the City's Perfect Attendance Award. In 2017, Officer Neri was elected by his peers to serve as their representative on the City of Sanibel Police Pension Board.
