LEE COUNTY, Fla. – We’re learning more about a crash that killed a North Fort Myers man and sent three others to the hospital Sunday morning.
It happened at about 11:30 a.m. on Littleton Road just east of U.S. 41.
Florida Highway Patrol says the 71-year-old man driving a van turned into the driveway of a storage facility and hit the gate code box. They say he then quickly backed out onto Littleton Road, right into the path of a pickup truck.
The truck’s driver attempted to avoid the van but hit its right side, causing it to overturn onto the road’s shoulder.
The van’s driver died at the scene.
The three occupants in the truck, including a 2-year-old child, were taken to hospitals with minor injuries.
