CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A deadly multiple-vehicle Cape Coral crash on Saturday is under investigation, and highway patrol says charges could be coming.
According to Florida Highway Patrol, on Saturday, five vehicles were involved in a crash on Pine Island Road near Barrett Road at 12:45 p.m.
Troopers say four cars stopped for traffic congestion, but a fifth car didn't, causing a chain-reaction crash.
That crash killed 72-year-old Carolyn Erwin of LaBelle, who was the driver of one of the cars in the chain reaction collisions.
In their report, FHP says that 32-year-old Stefan Lippke of Cape Coral was at fault for the crash for failing to slow for traffic.
Charges are still pending further investigation.
