PUNTA GORDA, Fla — “ I know I cant save the world but if I can just save a few then I know my work is not in vein,” said Judy Jones President of Bread of Life Missions.
For more than four decades Judy Jones has been helping thousands of homeless men, women, and children not only here in Southwest Florida but across the world.
She started Bread of Life Missions in Punta Gorda and has devoted her life to assisting those in need.
“ I hate that word no, I have to say yes knowing sometimes I get over crowded or over worked but it’s a soul that needs to be healed,” said Jones.
With the help of donors and others in the community, she has successfully kept her homeless shelter up and running.
“I’m very blessed, our lights would never be on through the course of years. I have donors dedicated donors, private donors that don’t want their name mentioned, I use my own personal money you know what I’m saying but there’s never a day we have not ever been blessed without food,” said Jones.
One woman who fell on hard times has greatly benefited from staying at the shelter.
“When I got sick I couldn’t afford the rent anymore, so I had to close my office and leave my condo and I ended up here at Bread of Life,” said Carola Koeing.
Koeing grateful she found this place to call home
“It’s not the end of the world, you measure things differently when you come out of a development where people have other priorities,” said Koeing.
