FORT MYERS, Fla. -- An investigation into Fort Myers Police Department captain Jay Rodriguez will be handled by state attorney's from outside Southwest Florida.
The State Attorney's Office of the 20th district has requested a governor's assignment in the case. As a result, two state attorneys from outside the Fort Myers area will handle the case. It's to try and prevent any bias from entering the investigation.
