LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Investigators are looking to identify two women they say have scammed several area Walmarts with fake purchases.

According to Southwest Florida Crime Stoppers, the duo has executed multiple theft and fraud cases in recent weeks at stores in Lee and Charlotte counties.

At a recent theft at the Walmart on Six Mile Cypress Parkway in Fort Myers, the women brought a basket full of merchandise to the register and once the items were all scanned asked the cashier for cigarettes.  When the cashier turned their back, one woman pretended to swipe a credit card while the other reached over and finalized the transaction on the register, giving the impression that a payment was made.

Investigators say the same tactic has been used at several other Walmarts.

Anyone with information on the identities and whereabouts of these women are asked to call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-780-TIPS (8477).  All callers will remain anonymous and will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $3,000.  Tips may also be made online at www.southwestfloridacrimestoppers.com or by submitting a tip on the P3Tips mobile app.
