Passenger in fatal Cape Coral crash charged with permitting unauthorized driver

CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- A Bokeelia teenager has had her driver's license suspended for her role in a fatal Cape Coral crash last year.

According to Cape Coral Police, on October 25, 2018, the 17-year-old was a passenger in a pickup truck that ran a stop sign on Diplomat Parkway and caused a crash that killed the driver of another car, Jill Mandeville.

All three people in the truck were seriously injured.

Police say the teen knowingly let another teen drive her pickup truck without a license.

The teen was pronounced guilty last week, and was sentenced Monday with the following:

-1 year suspension of driver's license
-6 months probation
-50 hours of community service for every month of probation
-6 PM to 6 AM curfew
-Electronic monitoring
-Substance abuse counseling
-Aggressive driving course
-Lee Memorial Hospital Trauma course
-Victim impact panel
-$500 fine, plus court costs
