FORT MYERS, Fla. -- Police are looking for the driver of a vehicle that hit and killed a woman on Colonial Boulevard on Wednesday.
According to Fort Myers Police, 50-year-old Ileana Ortiz was crossing Colonial near State Road 82 around 6 p.m. on Wednesday when she was hit by a vehicle. She was taken to Lee Memorial and pronounced dead.
The driver of the vehicle left the scene.
A 911 call later led officers to the area of Miramar Outlets, where a caller reported that she struck a pedestrian on Colonial Boulevard.
Investigators towed a vehicle from the scene and are obtaining a search warrant.
The investigation is ongoing.
