The Naples Police Department says two people were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a small single-engine plane crashed into the Gulf of Mexico.

It happened on Saturday around 12:30 pm.

Police say the plane went down near the 2100 block of Gulf Shore Boulevard South.

They say the plane is a thousand yards off the beach in the Gulf of Mexico.

Police say the two people injured were the only ones on the plane.

This is a developing story.
