FORT MYERS, Fla. -- A man is facing charges for Grand Theft Auto and a firearm violation, all while a baby was on board.
Fort Myers Police say that on Monday night they spotted a suspicious vehicle with no tag on Franklin Street. They say 21-year-old Derick Simpson and 18-year-old Raiven Newton were in the stolen car with a baby in the back seat.
Officers say Simpson had a gun in the car, out in the open.
He was arrested and the car was returned to its owner.
Newton and the baby were transported to a local shelter.
