SARASOTA COUNTY, Fla. – North Port Police are still trying to figure out what happened after a man's body was found in a pond last week.
This happened Friday near Benissimo Drive in the West Villages area.
Police say the body of 60-year-old Jose Guadalupe Gavarrete was found face down in a pond near an area under development in the Gran Paradiso community.
Gavarette’s last known address is in Collier County, but he is believed to be homeless.
An initial autopsy found no signs of trauma to his body, but a full autopsy and toxicology results are still pending.
