UPDATE (2/1) : Fort Myers Police say there was an officer involved shooting on Fowler Street in Fort Myers Saturday morning.
Police say officers were dispatched to Mahogany Beauty Salon for reports of multiple shots being fired. When they arrived at the salon, an officer was confronted by a black male who fired a weapon at him.
The officer responded by firing shots at the shooter. Officers began live saving measures on the shooter and requested EMS. As officers were investigating the area, they found the shooters wife, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
Both were transported to Lee Memorial Hospital. Police say the officer involved in the shooting was not injured and has been placed on paid administrative leave. The investigation will be continuing, and more information will be provided as soon it becomes available.

There is heavy police presence on Fowler Street in Fort Myers. Police have closed off a portion of the street with crime scene tape. It appears police are investigating an incident. Fox 4 is working to learn more about the scene.
