LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives say they are looking for a potential witness in a fatal hit and run that killed a man walking on a North Fort Myers sidewalk in February.

The incident happened at 1:40 a.m. on February 24th, 2019 along Beau Drive, just off Hancock Bridge Road.

According to Florida Highway Patrol, troopers believe 37-year-old Patrick Santiago was walking on the sidewalk when he was struck by an unknown vehicle that fled the scene. Santiago was taken to the hospital but died of his injuries the next day.

Troopers now say they are looking for the driver of a white Cadillac Escalade as a potential witness to the crime. The SUV was seen leaving the nearby RaceTrac station onto Beau Drive around the time of the crash. Troopers would like to interview the driver about the events of that night.

If anyone has information regarding this crash or the hit and run vehicle, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at 239-938-1800 or Crime Stoppers.
