Primary election voter registration deadline: July 20th

The voter registration deadline for the August 18th primary is quickly approaching.

Fox 4 spoke with local experts about the importance of utilizing your 15th amendment right.

“Elections don’t only end up in the results because of individuals who voted, but also those who don’t vote. Every vote truly does count, ” said Trish Robertson.

Trish Robertson of the Collier County Supervisor of Elections says the upcoming primary is super important to determining the future of our communities.

The deadline to register is July 20th.

“We have county commission races on the primary, state house representatives, city council races, and the mayor on their too, ” said Tommy Doyle.

“These are the individuals who are representing you on a local level and not only in your community but when it comes to up in Washington, ” said Robertson.

Southwest Florida active registered voters (as of 7/19):

  • Lee County: 466,691
  • Collier County: 216,560
  • Hendry County: 18,407
  • Charlotte County: 147,075

“We encourage individuals to cast a ballot. What’s the harm in not voting?, ” said Trish Robertson.

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, many now utilizing the option to vote by mail to avoid long wait times and crowded polling places.

“Highly suggest voting by mail, request your ballot, and its an insurance policy, ” said Doyle.
