CAPE CORAL, Fla.-- Cape Coral City Council members withdrew the proposed ordinance to ban the retail sales of cats and dogs.
Council members also canceled the public hearing for the ordinance which was set for October 1. However, the ordinance will be re-introduced at a later date.
It would make it illegal for pet stores to sell you dogs and cats. The ordinance was introduced by councilman Richard Williams. The goal is to discourage puppy and kitten mills.
But not everyone agrees with this ordinance. A man who owns Patriot Pets and Supplies says he would be the only person affected by this since it's the only pet store in Cape Coral that sells puppies.
Reinhardt says his family is very strict about where they get their dogs.
