FORT MYERS, Fla. -- We now know the name of the newly renovated convention center in downtown Fort Myers.
It's located next to the new Luminary Hotel currently under construction.
The space, formerly known as the Harborside Event Center will reopen later this year as the Caloosa Sound Convention Center and Amphitheater.
It will feature a riverfront terrace with a view of the Caloosahatchee River.
Renovations include major updates to the interior and exterior of the building, including a new roof, windows and exterior walls.
Mayor Randy Henderson says the community will be able to utilize the space for several events and gatherings.
No word on the exact opening date of the event center.
We do know the Luminary Hotel is expected to open in August.
