FORT MYERS, Fla. — The holidays are right around the corner which means airports our the county are going to be hectic. However according to a recent comparecards.com study, R-S-W Airport ranked number 6 in the U.S. for the least amount of holiday travel delays and cancellations on average for the past 10 years.
A representative from the Fort Myers airport says they are doing what they can this holiday season to make traveling much less stressful saying.
“On the busiest travel days like Thanksgiving and Christmas passengers should be in the security line 2 hours prior to departure and to make sure they check on the TSA website about the articles they can and cannot take in carryon luggage through the checkpoints. During the holidays we have extra staff working as do the airlines and TSA at the checkpoints. Our first priority is always passenger safety but we also want the traveling public to enjoy being in our airport,” said Victoria Moreland Department Director of Communications and Marketing for the RSW airport.
On the other hand flying from R-S-W airport can be much more expensive than flying from Miami or Tampa. However Peggy Owen says the stress free atmosphere is much more important.
“I would rather have less stress than cheaper prices,” said Owen.
Other passengers adding this airport is economically more convenient but that's not the only reason they are regulars here.
“We always thought it was 4 or 5, 6 was too high, best place going,” said Paul Urtel
“I’m not at all surprised i fly in and out of here all the time, i love it,” said Michael Resch.
R-S-W airport also adding that they are providing more staff this holiday season to make your travels much more pleasant.
