Sandcastle sculpting contest returns amid red tide

This weekend sandcastles of all shapes and sizes will line the Fort Myers beach for the 33rd annual sandcastle sculpting championship.

However red tide levels are fairly high. So how will that effect you?

One participant tells me he'll be here no matter what!

“We are a little concerned about this red tide coming up but we aren’t gonna let that hold us back were still gonna have fun as best we can,” said Kevin Reckard.

Elsewhere along the beach, one woman says she may stay out of the water but there is plenty more to enjoy.

“The higher the exposure is only when you’re going in the water, so that does not effect you building the sand castle that does not effect you enjoying the great food and the beverages and that definitely does not effect you enjoying the live music, and the many different acts that they have here at times square,” said Bianca Bow.
