NORTH FORT MYERS, Fla. -- One parent is outraged after capturing video of Lee County school bus driving down the wrong side of Old 41 in North Fort Myers.
He followed and recorded the bus driver, as they pulled out of the Island Vista Estates neighborhood last Thursday. The driver proceeded down Old 41 on the wrong side of the road, nearly running into several cars.
Parents waiting for their children to get off the bus on Monday said the parent has every right to be upset. "They're the professionals, you know?" said one parent. "They're in charge of your kids while they're on the bus. It's scary to think something like that could happen."
The parent who recorded the video tells 4 In Your Corner he reported the incident to the Lee County School District, but had not heard back about whether anything would be done.
When 4 In Your Corner reached out to the district, they sent the following statement:
"The bus driver was immediately removed from the route and will not be driving a bus until a full safety investigation is completed."
They add that no children were on the bus at the time of the incident.
