CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- The Cape Coral Police Department has awarded a ‘Citizen Commendable Action Coin’ to two school employees who took action to protect students from an errant driver at the school bus ramp.

It happened at Caloosa Elementary School on August 22nd.

According to Cape Coral Police, as students were discharging from school buses, a driver entered the bus ramp, bypassing a patrol car, and headed towards the buses.

Staff members quickly moved to secure students while paraprofessional Krista Moscicki and teacher Jenn Pietronigro quickly moved in the direction of the danger and waved off the approaching car, stopping the driver.

Police say their actions greatly contributed to the safe resolution of the incident and safe discharge of all students.
