Serial burglar found residing in Fort Myers commercial unit

LEE COUNTY, Fla. -- Detectives have arrested a man they're calling a serial burglar after he was found hiding out in an uninhabited commercial property.

41-year-old Gabriel Bowling is facing a charge of Burglary of an Unoccupied Structure Unarmed, with additional charges pending.

Detectives initially responded to a possible stolen car Tuesday night behind the Publix shopping plaza on Summerlin Road near McGregor Boulevard.  After confirming that the Fiat was stolen, K-9's led investigators to the rear door of a unit in the shopping center, where they found pry marks in the door.

Bowling was found inside the unit, which contained many items previously reported as stolen, including mail, bank statements, a television, fishing equipment, multiple bicycles, power tools and beach carts.

An inflated air mattress and personal hygiene products were found, indicating that Bowling had likely been living in the unit.
