BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. — An active investigation was outside of a townhome complex in Bonita Springs Tuesday night.
Four Lee County Crime Scene Unit outside of Polynesian Villas Complex, off Bonita Beach Road and Arroyal Road.
Investigators were seen inspecting a car parked outside the complex.
Neighbors were also concerned about the scene but received little detail from deputies. One neighbor says he heard ‘firework-sounding’ noises coming from next door on Monday night.
“Like POP POP POP, and there may have been the fourth one. It scared the dogs,” said James Opteynet, a resident living in the complex.
Lee County Sheriff’s Office did not respond for comment or provide any information about the investigation. This is an ongoing story, and we’ll publish updates when we find out more details.
**UPDATE (7/17)** -- The Lee County Sheriff's Office confirmed Wednesday that this is a death investigation, but no further details have been released yet and the investigation is still active.
