CAPE CORAL, Fla. -- Cape Coral City Council approved a grant to allow the building of a sidewalk from 32nd terrace and 37th lane, nearby Pelican Elementary School. Parents say the addition of a safer place for kids to walk is necessary.
“I know the kids walk to school or they ride bikes so… I would go for it," said Glenn Dalmau, a parent of a Pelican student. "I think if they were going to put it on, they should do it right away.”
The five-year proposal plans to add sidewalks throughout Cape Coral. However, Monday, the Council approved the $210,077 grant for Pelican Elementary.
There is no timetable yet for when construction will begin.
