NORTH PORT, Fla. -- We have some new information about the search for a man who attacked a woman in North Port last week.

Police have sent out a sketch of the suspect.

They say the man sexually battered a woman between 1 a.m. and 7 a.m. on Sunday, December 8th.

"This gentleman, from the description that we have, rode up in a bicycle and attacked her," said Officer Joshua Taylor, North Port Police Department.

He's short, just over five feet tall, has a raspy voice, and is between 50 and 60 years old.

"It's shocking and it certainly doesn't happen very often that someone is randomly accosted in such a public place," said Taylor.

Police say the victim, who is in her seventies, was alone when the crime happened.

DNA evidence was collected from the victim, something officials hope will bring them closer to finding her attacker.

"You know, someone who would do something like this is probably not new to crime, so we're hopeful that between the tips and DNA we can get a name," said Taylor.

The suspect was last seen in the area of Tamiami Trail and Pan American Boulevard.
