BONITA SPRINGS, Fla. (AP) - Birdwatchers are concerned that so many people are gawking near a giant bald eagle's nest on Florida's west coast that the traffic might disturb the birds.
The Naples Daily News says years ago, a pair of eagles found a tree to call home among the thick mangrove vegetation in Bonita Springs' River Park.
The returning eagles now draw local curiosity as people come to the park in search of the elusive pair, sometimes worrying the giant birds - especially when humans use drones to get a better look.
As people flocked to find the secluded nest, impromptu paths sprouted through the thick mangrove as people trudge the undergrowth searching for a better view.
Wildlife researchers have asked the city to close the small path.
